Recently I finished reading Bloodhound by Tamora Pierce. This is the second book in her trilogy about Rebakah Cooper and her experiences as a Guard in Tortall. I really enjoyed the first book and Tamora Pierce's Tortallan Universe books always interest me. My thought are under the cut as they contain spoilers.
Beka is a great character and I'm very interested in what happens next with her. I missed Pounce in this one, but I liked how he was giving Beka more reliance on herself. I liked Dale, but I really want Beka to end up with Rosto. I felt bad for her when Dale left though. It sucks that she got wrapped up in being with him and ended up getting hurt. I was shocked that one of the colemongers (counterfeiters) was Hanse though. He seemed like a good guy, although the Snake from Terrier seemed pretty nice as well. I hope we see more of Torcall. I know Beka said she'd hobble him, but he was an interesting character. I notice that for the first time we got an openly gay couple in this book. I liked Okha and how he explained things to Beka. I also really liked Nestor and neither his, nor Okha's, speech or mannerisms played into stereotypes or misconceptions. They were normal guys who happened to prefer men. The author handled this very well in my opinion. Overall, I loved this book.
Take care,
