Wow, I haven't posted here in a long time. And I'm sorry for that. I just got wrapped up in doing things the last two weeks before going away to college. I spent all this last week packing and I leave for my new home on Saturday. Plus I've been trying to hang out with my friends a little before I go, since I probably won't see them until Christmas. It's been a little crazy. But I have been reading and I wanted to post the book reviews for you.

The first book is Geek Magnet by Kieran Scott. This book is about a girl who attracts these really geeky and sometimes obnoxious guys. They all flock to her and want to be her friend or even more. The girl KJ is the stage manager for the show Grease at her high school and the book is broken up into acts. It's a really fun book. Review is under the cut and beware of spoilers

Next I read Kitty Goes to Washington. This is the sequel to Kitty and the Midnight Hour which I reviewed a little while ago. In this one, Kitty is brought to Washington DC to speak to a committee about the existence of paranormal creatures. She meets new people and learns bit about how a pack doesn't have to be like the one she had before. She also has another run-in with Smith, the nut-job who boasts a cure. Review is under the cut. Beware the spoilers

Last book is I Was A Non-Blonde Cheerleader by Kieran Scott. This book is about a girl named Annisa who moves from New Jersey to Florida when her dad gets a new job. Everyone at her new school is blonde, even those who wouldn't naturally be blonde. Oh, and they all hate her for various reasons. So when se tries out for the cheerleading team, can it only lead to disaster? Review under the cut, but no spoilers here.

I spent yesterday at my mom's friend's house while mom and her friend scrapbooked. Now I got a lot of reading and writing done, but there was also a small child who kept interrupting me. I think I have a small child beacon that draws them to me when all I want is to be left alone. She kept trying to get me to scrapbook (which I don't do because I suck at it) and she would sit next to me and read. But she had to read out loud and then show me stuff. And it didn't work to pretend I was engrossed in my book because she would just repeat it over and over until I paid attention. I was so glad when the girl's mom finally came to take her home.
But I did get to finish one book: The Good, The Bad and the Undead by Kim Harrison. This is the second book in Kim Harrison's Hollows series. And I have to say, I'm really enjoying the series so far. I think I'll ask for the set for Christmas. This book was about Rachel Morgan, former I.S. runner, tracking down a serial killer who was hunting ley line witches. For this case, she's teamed up with the FIB, who've hired her as a consultant, and she's working with this guy Glenn who is one of the few humans not intimidated by the fact that Rachel's a witch. It's a really good book. Review is under the cut and beware the spoilers.

Haven't posted in a couple days, even though I finished this book a little while ago. It was my sister's birthday today and we had her party last Saturday. It was a lot of fun. We did a scavenger hunt and this game where you had to unfurl a frozen tee shirt first. Plus the cake was cool. We made it with white cake mix and food coloring so it was rainbow. I have to say though, I'm getting tired of my sister making me feel like crap because I can't eat certain foods or get sick if I eat too much. Today I went to look for the leftover ice-cream, only to discover it's gone. Mom, Meg, and Meg's friend had finished it off. I was disappointed so I said, "Oh, I didn't get any." Meg said, "Well you should have had some at the party" knowing full well that I'd already had macaroni salad, diet coke, and cake. If I pushed it, I was going to be sick. The digs are eventually going to push me over the edge I've been slowly approaching due to my, now more restrictive, diet. I just have to make it another twenty days though, thirteen of which she'll be in school and I won't have to deal with her until mid-afternoon.
Anyway, back to the book review. This book is Goddess Boot Camp by Tera Lynn Childs. It's the sequel to Oh. My. Gods. and it continues to follow Phoebe, who still doesn't have control of her demi-god powers. So she's forced to attend a camp that'll help get her powers under control. Review is under the cut and this time there aren't really spoilers, unless you missed the first book.

I love books. They can take me away from dysfunctional situations or frustrated feelings and just help me relax. Whenever I need to go somewhere else, I can just pick up a book and lose myself in it. Great type of book to do this with is the fluffy teen romances scattered throughout the teen shelves at the book store. You know the type; they have cheesy covers, strangely entertaining plots that depend a lot on coincidence, and many various authors, but are never part of a series. Most recently I read Suite Dreams by Rachel Hawthorne. I have a few of her teen romances and they're usually pretty fun. This one is about this girl in college in Vermont. Her sort-of boyfriend swapped couches with student from Australia and he ends up sleeping on the girl's couch instead. Review is under the cut and no spoilers this time.

This is a book I've had on hold for quite some time at the library. And I have to say it was worth the wait. It was a great book and I hope to read the next one soon. I love the irony of a werewolf named Kitty. Review is under the cut. Beware the spoilers.

I can't believe how hot it is getting here. I feel like I'm going to burst into flame when I step out into the sun. I also have low blood pressure, so summer is a time when I'm really susceptible to fainting if I don't stay hydrated. So I stay inside most of the time. And yesterday, while staying inside, I started and finished The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan. This is the second book in the Percy and the Olympians series. The first book is actually being made into a movie that will release in February 2010. The review is under the cut. There are some spoilers, so ye be warned.

Recently I got sucked into the show Greek, which I'm really enjoying. I finished season one on Sunday. I think my favorite character has to be Cappie. But watching Greek has meant that I haven't finished a book in a while. Yesterday though, I finished reading How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire by Kerrelyn Sparks. This is part of her Love at Stake series, which I ended up starting in the middle of. Luckily, they're able to stand on their own so you don't have to have read the previous books to understand what's going on. I personally suggest reading them in order though, then you get to know all the characters ahead of time. Anyway, the review is under the cut and beware of spoilers

I picked up this book when I was at a bead store in Nye Beach because it didn't mention the Montgomery family. I know that the Montgomery's show up in a bunch of Jude Deveraux's series and I didn't want to read it out of order so I found this one which had no mention of the family at all. I don't exactly know how I feel about this book, but the review is under the cut. Beware of the spoilers

Well, I had a pretty good time at the beach. We went to the aquarium and it was so nice to be away from the heat. While I was there I finished the newest Jeaniene Frost book, which luckily came a day early so I got it before I left on my trip. It was so awesome and I cannot wait for the next one to come out. The review is under the cut and beware of spoilers

I just wanted to poke my head in before I leave for the beach tomorrow morning. I won't be on probably until next Wednesday. I just finished Lover Avenged by JR Ward though. This is the seventh book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. I absolutely loved it! The review is under the cut and this one has spoilers

More lazy summer has gone by. Nothing really noteworthy has happened though. I think the highlight of the week was watch True Blood and taking my sister's friend to the airport for her flight home. I have tried to do a little editing in my novel though. In between long bouts of Facebooking. But today I finished The Kitchen Witch by Annette Blair. The book was sort of "eh" for me. The review is under the cut. No spoilers.

Well, in another hour I have to go keep my two cousins occupied while Uncle Mike gets his divorce stuff in order with my mom and Talima. Oh and Talima is living with Uncle Mike, along with her new "husband" and their baby girl Lydia. Plus Uncle Mike's girlfriend lives there with her two boys that visit on weekends. What a dysfunctional world my family lives in.

My sister is finally off to camp for the week! Yes, four days of freedom. Then she'll be back for three days and we won't see each other for another three weeks. I love my sister, but I love to love her from afar. On another note, today I finished reading Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side by Beth Fantaskey. I found this book surprisingly not shallow and fluffy. It was fun and not too deep, don't get me wrong. But I didn't find it over the top and cheesy. The review is under the cut. No spoilers this time.

Between finally getting all my books put back on the shelves from rearranging my room, I finished Oh. My.Gods. by Tera Lynn Childs today. It's about this girl who moves to a Greek island and finds out she has to go to a school for the descendants of Greek Gods. It's a fun book and my review is under the cut. As always, beware of spoilers

Yesterday was a fun day for me, although it got a little too hot for me to stay outside the whole time. We did a BBQ at my mom's friend's house. Our fireworks were a bit Special Ed though. Most of them sputtered or feebly worked. One Roman Candle just gave up entirely, though Dad kept trying to light it with the torch. I hope everyone enjoyed their Fourth, whether you celebrate the holiday or not. Anyway, while I was staying inside to keep from overheating, I finished reading Turn Coat by Jim Butcher. I loved this book and I always love Harry's humor. It's interesting to watch Harry change as the years go by. He hasn't changed a ton, but the changes are still there. My review is under the cut. Beware of spoilers

I am an impulsive and stupid girl-child sometimes. I have a disorder adversely affected by too much dairy, any red meat, any high fructose corn syrup, and a few other things. Usually, I'm pretty good when it comes to ice-cream and have maybe a half a cup, at the most. But today I had about half a pint of Ben and Jerry's Fossil Fuel. I told myself to stop but then I'd be like "Ooo look at the fudge dinosaur. I can have one more." "I want one last taste of brownie/fudge" or "There's not really enough to put back in the freezer. I'll just finish it". Maybe next time I go for that one extra bite, I'll remember the stomach pains it causes and stop myself
On another note, today I finished reading What I Did for Love by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. I enjoyed it to some degree, but it's not a book that will join my top favorites. I liked the verbal sparring between the two main characters and the very end. And a lot of the sex stuff was pretty tasteful for a romance book, but it was also a little awkward. The full review is under the cut. Beware of the spoilers it contains

Recently I finished reading Bloodhound by Tamora Pierce. This is the second book in her trilogy about Rebakah Cooper and her experiences as a Guard in Tortall. I really enjoyed the first book and Tamora Pierce's Tortallan Universe books always interest me. My thought are under the cut as they contain spoilers.
